The Quest for Peace and Joy

As a young girl in the 70’s, I had most everything a girl could ever want in her life.  I had a family who loved me, my own room with a beautiful purple canopy bed and pink walls, a stereo for listening to my favorite music, and a piano for practicing my music lessons.  Yes, I had all a girl dreams of when she lays her head down at night.

Then it happened.  Everything was snatched from me at the young age of 10.  My parents divorced due to an abusive relationship, our house burnt to the ground with all of my belongings, and I no longer had the peace and joy that I cherished as a young child.  Instead, I grew up in a poverty-stricken home with my mother and two brothers and spent the next forty years of my life searching for child-like peace and joy.

As I endured much pain and heartache through the years as a teenager, young adult and now mother, I found myself ever searching for more.  Maybe, you can relate to my quest for peace and joy.  I invite you to take a walk with me on this journey of hope.  The hope, that one day, peace and joy will reign in our hearts.

“You shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”  Isaiah 55:12.
